Women and AIDS

Three-quarters of all Africans between the ages of 15 and 24 who are HIV-positive are women. This is because it is easier for women to catch the virus than a man. Many young women already struggle to provide for their family and when they get this virus, it's hard to balance their daily life. If a woman has AIDS and she becomes pregnant, she will pass the virus on to her child. That is one more addition to the growing threat of AIDS.
